The H.E.R.O. Guide to Edrathia (Work in Progress)

A continent of city-states, trade guilds, and opportunity. Guided by H.E.R.O., protected by H.E.R.O.—now under revision.

The H.E.R.O. Guide to Edrathia

A travel guide to the continent that H.E.R.O. proudly serves. Updated daily. Mostly.

Edrathia has never had a crown. No emperor, no unified state—just a patchwork of city-states, trade guilds, regional alliances, and the occasional harbour town that answers to no one in particular. Power is hyper-local. Authority rarely extends past the line of sight.

Why Edrathia

For the ambitious traveller, Edrathia is a continent of opportunity. There is always honest work — a merchant caravan seeking escort, a village seeking expertise, a guild seeking capable hands. And wherever that work exceeds sensible limits, H.E.R.O. is already on its way.

Borders shift with the seasons and merchant contracts. Large wars are rare; influence is traded through messengers, favour-calls, and defensive pacts. A highland valley might answer to a city council three days' ride south, or to the guild that buys its wool. A fishing town might declare independence every other harvest festival. It works, after a fashion.

Villagers fix their own fences. Problems that can't wait don't wait for distant authority. A blocked mill, a boundary dispute, a thing in the woods—the locals solve it or live with it. But for larger concerns, H.E.R.O. is here.

Cities trade gossip like merchants trade spice. A weirdness reported in the highlands on Monday is tavern talk on the coast by Friday. Bad news travels fast; strange news travels faster.

A Word on Community & Heroes

H.E.R.O. is the only continent-spanning institution able to act beyond local politics — mediating disputes, upholding pacts, and setting the standard for what protection can be. Most communities tell us they would not have it any other way.

A very vocal minority have expressed concerns regarding the scope of heroic intervention. They are valued, they are heard, and they are warmly encouraged to make use of the complaints procedure: the Office of Public Satisfaction, Form 77-C (triplicate), third morning of the month, fourth sub-basement of the Citadel.

[Records note — T.W.: I'm going to finish this guide. It matters that people remember what Edrathia is. What it can be.]
